Transport Service Program

Hospital Helpers runs a Transport Service Program which provides assistance utilizing qualified Care Aides. Hospital Helper Care Aides are certified in First Aid as well as Food Safe. They have been trained in proper patient mobilization techniques and have RCMP clearance.

The Transport Service Program can be used with a Helper and taxicab. When using a taxicab, the Helper makes arrangements with a cab company of your choosing. The patient is responsible to pay the driver full fare, as any passenger would. The fee for Helper is paid separately.

If preferred, arrangements can be made for services with a Helper and HH vehicle. Rates include guaranteed pick up and drop off times at any specified location. i.e. home, hotel, airport. Rates also include fuel, parking costs, wait and drive times.

Comfort Service Program

Post-op home support or overnight home support is available for first night’s discharge.

This can include:

• Prescription drop off and pick up
•  meal provision,
• miscellaneous errands,
• personal care such as showering and bed preparation
•  post operative monitoring such as assistance with medication, pain control, toileting, rehydration, mobilization in and out of bed, and wound care.
